Colton Ford Music

Colton Ford filmed his “That’s Me” music video in October 2007.
Two Virgin Records deals and Denise Rich’s MIDE Productions contract got him into the 1990s. The contract facilitated his relationship with American DJ Frankie Knuckles. Ford was supposed to appear on Knuckles’ 1995 studio album Welcome to the Real World; however, Virgin conflicts prevented it. Pepper Mashay helped him cover Stevie Wonder’s 1970 song “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” in 2003.

The song peaked at No. 9 on the Hot Dance Club Play list in April 2004 and No. 25 on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart the following month. Ford published his debut album, R&B, house, and funk-influenced Tug of War, in 2008. Ford appeared in Cyndi Lauper’s 2008 True Colors Tour and “Into the Nightlife” music video.

Ford’s 2009 second studio album, Under the Covers, uses reimagined dance music from numerous genres. Ford’s third studio album, The Way I Am, released in June 2013, blended dance, electronica, and R&B. He co-produced the album alongside NERVO and Chris Willis, which covers love, sexuality, and self-acceptance. “Let Me Live Again,” the album’s upbeat opener, reached 41 on Billboard Dance Club Songs. Tom of Finland’s homoerotic paintings inspired the monochromatic music video.

The music video shows him reclining on a white bed while singing “All My Love” from The Way I Am. Following that, Ford released his EP Next Chapter in 2015.

In 2016, Ford left NYC and his management firm for Los Angeles. The same year, he released Glenn Soukesian, a side project, an R&B and soul record. Ford took a hiatus from music when his mother died and he had a bad relationship. He returned triumphantly in 2020 with Unity, a four-song EP he wrote during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EP emphasizes togetherness, inner force, and independence. “Hopefully, people will be repeating these lyrics in their heads with the difficult things we have,” he said. Ford created a music video for “Stay” off the EP. His OnlyFans page had the uncensored version, but YouTube had the filtered one. His fifth and last album, Permission (2023), has contemporary R&B and pop songs about passionate meetings, love’s joys and sorrows, and infidelity. In the music video for “Handle It,” Ford plays a gay nightclub go-go boy.
